Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy

In sclerotherapy treatments, a series of micro-injections of a solution (“sclerosant”) is given directly into varicose or spider veins. The injected solution occludes veins with abnormal valves.

The treatment can also be done with the help of ultrasound. Your venous system is shown here for diagnosis. This gives you a live view of your veins. Physicians typically employ ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy to address larger varicose veins. For minor spider veins located closer to the skin’s surface, ultrasound guidance is typically unnecessary, and visual inspection suffices for vein removal.

The procedure for thermal or adhesive ablation treatment is approximately 40 minutes.
