What is a vein sealant (VenaSeal) in general?
An acrylic-based vein glue is used to seal varicose veins in Berlin without surgery or anesthesia in order to close the vein and redirect the blood to alternative veins.
It is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic and does not cause allergies.
Important: We use a different therapy for spider veins; vein glue cannot be used here.
What is the VenaSeal in particular?
VenaSeal in Berlin or the VenaSeal (vein glue) Closure System is a new type of vein glue made of acrylate that closes the diseased truncal vein to heal it permanently.
The cyanoacrylate we use is a completely biodegradable adhesive that is also very tissue-compatible and, of course, non-carcinogenic.
No surgery or anesthesia is necessary, the treatment takes approx. 20 minutes per diseased vein and almost all patients are ready to return to work immediately.
What are the first signs/symptoms of venous insufficiency?
Varicose veins are enlarged veins caused by a defect in the vein, usually due to abnormal blood flow caused by a deformed venous valve and a thin vein wall.
The reason for this is a weakness in the connective tissue, which means that the venous valves no longer function properly.
The first signs of venous insufficiency and the appearance of varicose veins are changes in the color of the skin on your leg or if your legs feel heavy after prolonged exercise. But pain in the legs after long periods of walking or standing, tired and swollen legs or cramps in the calf or foot are also signs that you should speak to a doctor quickly. If left untreated, varicose veins can worsen and lead to open ulcers on the leg or, in rare cases, even to life-threatening pulmonary embolisms.

How does the individual treatment with the vein adhesive (VenaSeal Closure System) work?
As varicose veins often run in families, hereditary venous insufficiency appears to play a role in the development of varicose veins.
However, current symptoms, medical history and a physical examination also provide decisive indications of varicose veins.
Various diagnostic methods such as B-mode ultrasound, venous Doppler ultrasound and digital photoplethysmography (D-PPG/LRR) then provide information about deeper changes.

Understanding the causes of your venous disease is the first and most important step towards effective treatment. Once your Vein Center Berlin has worked with you to identify these causes, the appropriate specialist for your diagnosis and their team will work with you to answer your questions, assess your vein condition and provide you with a unique and comprehensive treatment plan based on your needs. If an individual treatment with VenaSeal bioclue (vein glue) is recommended, you will be informed in detail by our specialists and the complete treatment plan (usually consisting of several treatment approaches) will be outlined for you. Treatment with VenaSeal bioadhesive (vein adhesive) is carried out as follows:
The treatment is outpatient and does not require general anesthesia.
Using a small puncture and a catheter, a medical vein glue is gradually introduced into the varicose vein with gentle pressure.
The treatment does not require local anesthesia and is continuously monitored by ultrasound to ensure that the vessel is securely closed.

Advantages
The advantages of an individual treatment with the vein sealant in Berlin (VenaSeal Closure System) are obvious:
- Only a small puncture and an appropriate catheter are required to gradually introduce the VenaSeal bioadhesive (vein adhesive) into the varicose vein with gentle pressure, where it permanently heals the truncal vein while the blood is diverted to other veins. The trunk vein (root of the varicose vein) is healed in a few weeks and after approx. 12 months the adhesive is broken down by the body without complications.
- An outpatient, minimally invasive and painless procedure lasting approx. 20 minutes per truncal vein, which leads to complete healing of the varicose vein.
- No general anesthesia or local anesthesia
- No skin burns or nerve damage as may occur with other therapy methods
- The bioadhesive VenaSeal (vein adhesive) is completely biodegradable, non-carcinogenic and does not cause allergic reactions
- A rapid recovery phase for the patient is guaranteed
- Medication and compression stockings are not necessary after the treatment
- A sick note is not required
What do I need to consider after treatment with VenaSeal bioadhesive (vein adhesive)?
As treatment with VenaSeal bioadhesive (vein adhesive) is very uncomplicated and gentle on the tissue, no special aftercare is required.
There is also no need for medication or compression stockings.
Are there any side effects of treatment with VenaSeal bioadhesive (vein adhesive)?
A slight side effect could be a brief inflammatory reaction caused by the initial contact of the lymph with VenaSeal bioglue (vein glue).
However, this can be easily remedied with cooling bandages.
There is also a brief increase in the inflammation parameters in the laboratory chemical control.
