Afterwards, mild pain in the surgical area is normal and can be well controlled with standard painkillers. Most patients report that the discomfort noticeably decreases after a few days.  <\/p>\n          <\/div>\n          <div class=\"faq-item\">\n            <h3>Does the health insurance company cover the costs?<\/h3>\n            <p>Yes. For patients with statutory health insurance, inguinal hernia surgery is a covered service; for privately insured patients, it is a reimbursable service according to GO\u00c4. Only if you are a self-payer or not insured in Germany will we discuss the costs during the initial examination.  <\/p>\n          <\/div>\n          <div class=\"faq-item\">\n            <h3>When can I return to work?<\/h3>\n            <p>If you have a predominantly sedentary job, usually after about one week. If your work involves physical labor with lifting and carrying, expect three to six weeks. We issue the certificate of incapacity for work individually based on your occupation.  <\/p>\n          <\/div>\n          <div class=\"faq-item\">\n            <h3>Is the mesh safe?<\/h3>\n            <p>Meshes have been used in hernia surgery for decades and are well studied. They significantly reduce the risk of a recurrent hernia. The material remains permanently in the body and is generally well tolerated. We will discuss which type of mesh we use with you before the procedure.   <\/p>\n          <\/div>\n          <div class=\"faq-item\">\n            <h3>How high is the risk that the hernia will come back?<\/h3>\n            <p>With mesh reinforcement and in experienced hands, the recurrence rate is in the low single-digit percentage range. If a recurrent hernia does occur, it can usually be operated on again \u2014 often minimally invasively. <\/p>\n          <\/div>\n          <div class=\"faq-item\">\n            <h3>Do I have to stay overnight?<\/h3>\n            <p>No. We operate exclusively on an outpatient basis and do not have beds for overnight stays. The prerequisite is that you are accompanied home and are not alone for the first few hours.
